You can make this both veg and non-veg
Salt to taste.
Peel the gourd and grate it in a cheese grater (you have to be very quick or else the gourd will start changing it’s color). Heat a sauce pan and add 1 tsp ghee, cumin, and bay leaf. Fry for a few seconds and add the gourd, turmeric, salt, and green chili. Give it a nice mix. Then add add milk and cover. In low heat, let it cook until the gourd becomes tender. Bottle gourd release lots of water so let it cook to dry up all the milk and water. Sprinkle the remaining ghee.
For the non veg version: as soon as the water and milk dries up, mix in the fried shrimp with the ghee. Cover and cook for another 1 minute.
Enjoy with hot rice (basmati is best)!
